Before you can use the search engine, you must do the following:
For Silicon Graphics
- Make sure that you have the compiler and c++ execution environment installed on your system. We have written a script that will test this for you.
- Make sure that you have the java execution environment installed on your system.

If you do not have it installed, you can install in one of the following two ways:
- Launch the search engine
If you get an error after trying to create a temporary
directory, that means that there is a NetResults directory already created in that
space for another user. Close the window and start over with a different temporary directory.
- Search the Hot Mix CD
Non Silicon Graphics machines can use the search engine, too.
